Landing your first job can be such a pleasing experience, especially if it’s one you’ve always wanted. In some cases, it may be accidental or planned.

Either way, if you are looking to join the Salesforce movers club, a job in the platform is your entry point.

But getting started can be a challenge especially if you are new to the technology or new to the tech field. However, Salesforce have made it easy to secure a job in the platform with resources that can take you from armature to pro in just a few months.

Get your certification.

 

Getting your certification is important in any entry-level job, in this case, the Salesforce ecosystem. Certifications are proof that you have educational knowledge, technical understanding and a few skills here and there to help you get started in Salesforce.

You do need about 3 or 5 to make you stand out and increase your marketability but, hey, this is only an entry-level job.

Training.

As you begin, you need to gain knowledge and experience. Salesforce provides Trailhead, which is a fantastic free training tool. Gaining knowledge is combined with hands-on practice in your developer org.

This experience prepares you for a Salesforce position but is not enough to secure a job. Once you have spent time getting badges and practised individual principles, I recommend that you get a few Superbadges.

Experience.

Most potential employers require experience from a potential employee before giving them the job so that they know whether or not they are up for tasks.

Getting experience can be difficult but you just need to jump on opportunities as they come. You could also volunteer. Such would look good on your resume since it would show a willingness to learn.

The team.

Salesforce user groups are a great place to connect with fellow professionals. These groups are tight-knit communities that enjoy helping each other.

When positions open at companies, user group members will often refer friends from the community. It is a great place to get advice, find volunteer opportunities, and make friends. You can volunteer to speak or help with other group needs.

The more time you spend connected to your fellow Salesforce users, the more likely you are to find a position.

Personal branding.
